Erin Stewart is Guilty, The Defamation of Erin Stewart (3)

The campaign to prevent Erin Stewart from earning the right to represent the Ct Republican ticket for the office of Governor continues as bizarrely can be.

A clown car of accusers and self-serving, entitled accusers stumbles and bumbles over each other to up the ante of unfounded and outright surreal imaginary disqualifying crimes.

In this cartoon, five "scandals" (scandals I tell ya) are listed with a number of New Britain taxpayer baiting expectations that Stewart drop what she's doing and play stupid games.

Scandal #1: implies that actually using a city expense account is, well... a scandal. But that's what expense accounts are for. All city employees in every city use them. Here they have shaved their ten year request for receipts to make it look like the amount was spent in nine years, not that the amount is egregious to begin with.

So what will satisfy the demand for "addressing this scandal"? A confession that, "YES. YES. I used an expense card for expenses!" My guess is that this won't satisfy them.

Scandal #2: the policies regarding "red flags" for misuse of p-cards predates the advent of the Covid lockdown and the ensuing monopoly of big box store purchasing. Nothing here implies guilt of crime because there is no context for the purchases. That would require that the City Finance Department conduit a post mortem audit of those purchases, sit with Stewart and try to recreate what if anything was inappropriately charged to the city, and what if any restitution might be required. Which leads us to Scandal 3.

Scandal #3 Stewart owes no one reimbursement until such reimbursement is established. Scandal #3 is dependent on Scandal #2 being performed as a due process prerequisite. These two scandals are nothing more that a "heads we win, tails you lose" game for morons to play. Stewart is smart to watch her accusers chase their tails.

Scandal #4 Stewart asked to be awarded a pro-rated pension benefit from the City of New Britain for her service. This would have required a revision to the current city charter. given that she served through the Covid years in which grocery clerks, hospital staff, and public servants were considered "HEROES" for serving, the request is modest. To her critics its a crime.

Scandal #5 She has requested a public financing grant. Something she is perfectly entitled to do. I'm surprised nobody is locking her up.

Correlation does not equal causation.
