Crumbie's Proof of Innocence: The Defamation of Erin Stewart (6)

The Crumbie Law Group knows full well that P-Card violations, in cases where prosecution is attempted, almost ubiquitously result in misdemeanor charges and restitution payments.
And if they were qualified, they would also know that the investigative body responsible for looking into potential criminal activity would be the City Finance Department (and not a disingenuous, power hungry City mayor).
And furthermore assuming they exercised any integrity they would would know that in their report using the term 'alleged' ensures that the speculative merits of their rather dubious conclusions about the use of the City P-Cards isn't subject to defaming, libeling, or slandering the Card Holder before the due process of investigation and follow-up are conclusive.

Einstein once lamented something to the effect that "intelligence has its limits while stupidity has no bounds".

The Evidence in Front of Their Noses

Occom's Razor is the principle that the most obvious answer is the most likely true explanation.

In terms of Erin Stewart's P-Card purchases, that explanation is that whoever used the card was unaware that the card being applied to a purchase was a government constrained card.

How do we know this? It's spelled out in the Crumbie report (the embarrassment that it is).

"The P-Card Policy states that the cardholder is responsible for “[i]nforming vendor[s] of [the city’s] tax-exempt status prior to processing sale transaction[s].” See Id., p. 5. However, by utilizing the P-Card on her personal purchasing accounts, not only was the city fraudulently charged the purchase price of the items, but it was also charged Connecticut sales tax where it otherwise would not have been. It is impossible to assess the total amount of sales tax that was wrongfully charged to the city by Ms. Stewart’s expansive use of her P-Card; however, a conservative estimate is more than $15,000.00, for the period examined. "

That's right. These purchases paid CT Sales Tax! If the purchaser *was aware* of the tax exemption that could hide the purchase as an official expense, why pay tax? Obviously, the card was somehow confused with a personal one unwittingly, OTHERWISE the purchases would have been identified as tax exempt.

The fact the Crumbie KNOWS THIS and proceeds to claim and make public assertions of corrupt behavior on Erin Stewart's part implies a far more malicious motive than sanctimonious credit card reimbursement.

In fact the behavior of the New Britain lynch mob, their hired law associates, and a social media mob of raging lunatics seem to overlook all the important details of the rule of law and even common logic.

The defamation and public humiliation of Erin Stewart is a festering sore on CT's political Governor's contest. A smear on democracy.
